Guido Gezelle Portet face

Guido Pieter Theodorus Josephus Gezelle (Bruges, May 1, 1830 - there, November 27, 1899) was a Flemish lyric poet and satirist, Roman Catholic priest, linguist, teacher, journalist and translator. He is known for his subtle poems about nature, his visual language and his virtuoso language artistry. O 't ruischen van het slender reed and Het Schrijverke from the poetry collection Vlaamsche Dichtspelen (1858) are just two of his best-known works.
